05/14/10 • The Matt Zeiner Band • 08:00 PM
Van Morrison meets Gregg Allman, Steve Windwood meets Dr. John....this is how industry folks are describing this Artist.....and his credentials are legitimate.....you want to be moved ?.....don't miss this show!!!
It is no stretch to call Matt Zeiner a gifted artist in every sense of the word – songwriter, singer, musician and performer. Sitting behind his Hammond B-3 organ, he will rip into a raucous blues-rock number just as easily as down shift the tempo with a soulful original ballad. Songs from his band’s 2007 debut release, Live on a Summer Night, reflects the blend of rock and soul that defines Matt Zeiner’s distinctive songwriting and playing. “The Crash”, “Melody” and “Nobody Knows” give a nod to his southern rock days during his stint with ABB’s Dickey Betts. Since the release, Zeiner has widened his approach to music to include modern r&b stylings, as well as jam-band rock, blues, and jazz. Some would say Matt’s talent on keyboard is outmatched only by his superb vocals, as his authentic and powerful voice breathes life into every song. As a quartet, this band tears into a catalog of original soul/r&b tunes, some funky vintage blues and a fresh take on some well-known rock standards. By any account, the band delivers an energetic and captivating show.

“The Matt Zeiner Band is the best thing to happen to Hartford in a while. They have such a broad appeal that I can envision their blues-rock working in every single venue I’ve been to in Connecticut. They celebrated the release of their live CD, Live on a Summer Night, this past Saturday at Black-Eyed Sally’s. They sounded clean, clear and precise – the hallmark of a band who has dialed in their sound and settled into killing mode.” - The Hartford Advocate
“Driven by Zeiner’s startling and powerful vocals, The Matt Zeiner Band delivers a catalog of original music as soulful as it is searing, and as melodic as it is musical.” – Steppin’ Out
